It's kind of hard to rest in peace when you're engulfed in eternal flames.

The terrifying legacy of David Koch

David Koch, one of the two infamous billionaire Koch brothers, died Friday at the age of 79. The Wall Street Journal is quick to point out that, in addition funding a vast conservative political network, Koch gave about $1.3 billion of his nearly-$60 billion fortune to various philanthropies.

But what Koch may ultimately be most remembered for is helping to seed the climate-change denial movement in the 1990s. Indeed, David Koch was one of the most powerful people in the world over the last three or so decades, and he did his level best to stymie any effort to stop the biggest threat to human society...

There are few individuals who bear as much personal responsibility for systematically dismantling the institutions of democracy, corrupting our political system, strangling American labor rights, recklessly pillaging the environment, and denying the existence of climate change as David Koch.

Born with a silver spoon shoved in his mouth by his Nazi nanny, David's extremist libertarian ideology dreamt of a nation where government power is entirely subservient to the whims of corporations, and the protective regulations and needs of the American people are discarded entirely in favor of rendering nonwealthy an exploitable underclass whose only function is to feed the ravenous hunger of hypercapitalist growth and the fortunes of a handful of oligarchs.

To accomplish these heinous goals, he built an enormous political advocacy/bribery network which wormed its pernicious tentacles into every aspect of the political realm, controlling the Republican Party like a puppetmaster and showing us just how much damage two billionaires with a psychotic free market fascist agenda could accomplish by themselves.

This guy is literally PERSONALLY responsible for the creation of the Tea Party and the unleashing of the radical conservatism that brought us Trump.

He and his equally reprehensible brother are a symbol of the very worst excesses of the megawealthy, the pioneer and champion of monstrous and predatory selfishness and for that, I say rest in piss and rot in hell you fucking ghoul.
THIS!

I've seen interviews with the brothers. Obviously I don't agree with them, but theey seemed ok. They are passionate about their ideology and as far as I can tell have not done anything against the law. (Because of lobbying)
.

Did they have undo influence because of their money? (Lobbying) ABSOLUTELY

.

But thats a issue Congress decided was A-OK for some reason (lobbying)
.

Sadly they are just working under current law. (lobbying) If we don't like it, we have to go to the ballot box.

.

May he Rest In Peace.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/aug/23/david-koch-death-kochtopus-legacy-right-wing

The Kochtopus: sprawling network keeps David Koch's legacy thriving

The billionaire’s long reach and deep wallet reached the highest echelons of the right wing. His influence will long be felt

In September 2010, David and Charles Koch, the fabulously rich brothers who turned an oil and manufacturing empire inherited from their father into a cash cow for rightwing causes that would change American politics, sent out a letter to conservative power brokers inviting them to Palm Springs.

They were staging an event that was to become known as “Freedom Partners”: a twice-yearly gathering, convened in utmost secrecy, of some of the most wealthy and powerful rightwing players in the country. To attract their guests they included a brochure from a previous Koch gathering in Aspen, where the elite attendees had sat around in mountainous splendor discussing, among other issues: “Is America on the Road to Serfdom?”

The most intriguing part of the brochure was a roll-call of names of those lured to previous “Freedom Partner” gatherings. It included the current vice-president, Mike Pence; the Wisconsin politician Paul Ryan, who would go on to become speaker of the House of Representatives; super-donors such as the hedge fund manager Ken Griffin, and most intriguingly of all two conservative justices of the US supreme court, Clarence Thomas and the late Antonin Scalia...

...In David Koch’s passing on Friday America has lost a lion of conservatism whose backing for ultra-rightwing causes was cherished by fellow billionaires, corporations, polluters – even some supreme court justices. But members of that elite club of “Freedom Partners” should find solace in the thought that – though David Koch will no longer be there to greet them at their secretive retreats – his influence is still very present, right there in the White House...

...Koch’s similarly self-interested desire to drive government out of the US economy by undermining regulations and slashing corporate taxes started to firm up in 1980, when he stood as the Libertarian party’s vice-presidential candidate. By then, many of his other passions were also taking form, including abolishing social security and rolling back welfare benefits for low-income Americans.

Paul Ryan just moved to Washington DC. No doubt he will be running for President after Trump. Abolishing welfare, Social Security and Medicare are his well documented pet projects.

which i retracted and that was not me celebrating his death. I think his death was a criminal act and his killed got away with it too easy... if you are happy that he died and you celebrate it then you really have nothing to say when others do the same when some other person dies.

Bill Maher on David Koch:

“I know these seem like harsh words and harsh jokes, and I’m sure I will be condemned for them on Fox News, which will portray Mr. Koch as a principled libertarian who believed in the free market.

He and his brother have done more than anybody to fund climate science deniers for decades, so fuck
him, the Amazon is burning up, I’m glad he’s dead, and I hope the end was painful.”

Keith Boykin @keithboykin cnn

David Koch wanted to abolish public schools, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and rent control. He financed groups that denied the research on climate change. He funded the Tea Party. And he used dark money to support right-wing causes and Republican candidates for office.

Yea, you retracted once you realized you completely fucked up.

Dont be mad at us cause you got drunk and revealed your real feelings about eric garner, trayvon martin, freddie gray, and mike brown.

Also, dont be mad that everyone sees through your hypocritical grand-standing.

Regardless of your political affiliation, why do you always and automatically support anybody who´s from the right or conservative spectrum? I mean, don´t you consider your own interests and needs first? When and how was someone like Koch ever on YOUR side as far as medical bills and taxes and rent are concerned?

I mean I understand you want to support and defend anything and anyone who is against Obama and the Democratic Party, and that´s your right and that´s fine but why do you constantly defend people who never gave a shit about people like you ?

for one no I do not always automatically support anyone. I have said I do tend to post most here with my more Conservative leanings but that is simply because the left is well covered. There is no need for me to come in and agree.

Are you suggesting that by supporting a Conservative point of view I am acting against my own self interests?

I do consider my own needs but I put my views on what is best for all...long term over that. Thus I am a conservative libertarian. For example: health care: if it was made to be "FREE" the quality would NECESSARILY plummet.

and you are wrong in your assessment: I am not automatically opposed to obama and the DNC... I take each of the ideas on by itself.

and do think the Dems care about you? do you think they will subject themselves to the same rules they set for you? You ought to know based on the fact that that they were not subject to the kinds of health care insurance offered under the exchange!

If "Assault" rifles are banned... COPS first! If they want to TRY to take them from the PEOPLE they should set the example!
